5 South Song Lyric Page!!!!
The 5 South gang has always had a fertile and playful imagination, along with a love for the finer things in life such as a beautiful melody or a piss puck.  This page will be a launching point for those song parodies that got our toes a-tappin' and our thighs a-slappin'.

Among the greatest of our song lyric legacies is the immortal body of work incluced in our Five South Christmas Carol Alternate Lyrics!  You can see them by clicking here, but PLEASE BE FOREWARNED!!!  These are kind of dirty, filthy, pornographic, and profane.  If that bothers you, you'd best look elsewhere.  If that doesn't phase you, enjoy!!!

Meanwhile to kick things off on this main song page, please enjoy an actual song from "The Ship", played many times at VD2K, and a parody from 1981.......
SONG LYRIC ENTRY #1:

Gwin  (Mark Hamby)

Young as we are, wish on a star
Can't take you far without me
Lovers of old, dangers untold
Lancelot's gold forsaken

Gwin, you're my lady, stay by me
I'll be your champion, wait and see
Gwin we'll be lovers, safe and free
When we're older someday
Gwin if you'll stay by me

Be on your guard, they'll make it hard
But we're not pretending
Love carries us back, Guenevere's pact
Lover neverending

Gwin, you're my lady, stay by me
I'll be your champion, wait and see
Gwin we'll be lovers, safe and free
When we're older someday
Gwin if you'll stay by me

And I dreamed we rode our magic horse into the sunset
His great wings lined with golden
As the people strained their eyes, we flew away forever
Our mountain castle waiting somewhere
See how I care for you

SONG LYRIC ENTRY #2

Still In Trigon
(this is a parody of the Charlie Daniels' Band "Still In Saigon" which was popular about the time that we moved into the Trigon apartments in 1980)

Packed up my car on High Street and unloaded in Champaign;
When I moved in I knew my life could never be the same.
I could have gone to Daniels Hall or I could have left the school;
But Trigon life was beckoning; I couldn't be a fool.

Twelve long months in one short year; the worst was when it stopped.
First we'd party til we puked, then drink until we dropped.
Monopoly and TLC's and Valentines and beer,
Rocket fuel and Volleyball and FFNs all year
And so I'm still in Trigon..... In my mind.

The Champaign streets were covered with snow when I left those sacred sites.
One roommate calls me a baby-killer, the other one never writes.
Everyone thinks I'm far away, cause they can't see my face
But in my dreams it always seems that I'm back in my favorite place.
Yes I'm still in Trigon.. in my mind..

          Every winter, when it snows,
          I smell the pizza, I taste the Stroh's,
          I sit in bars until they close;
          I pray some days for times like those.

That's been many months ago and the time has gone long past.
But now and then I'll wake up quick and think I'm late for class.
All my thoughts of long ago will linger on and on.
Mingled with my memories of Second Street and John.
Where I'm still in Trigon..... In my mind.

Still to come......
